2 crores illegal Bangladeshis in the country: Rijiju

When organizations in Assam are making hue and cry over illegal Bangladeshi migrants occupying economic and political space in the state, MoS Home Kiren Rijiju in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today said there are 2 crore illegal Bangladeshis in the country.
Replying to a question of Tripura MP Jharna Das, Rijiju said Bangladeshis had entered the country clandestinely and surreptitiously without any valid documents. So, it is not possible to have accurate data. However, he further said according to inputs, there are 2 crore illegal Bangladeshis living in India.
On their detection and deportation he said it is a continuous process and state government and Union territories are given mandate to do so under section 3 (2)(c) of Foreigners Act 1946.

Railway Blockade in Udalguri and Basugaon on Demand of Bodoland


Udalguri, Oct 24- Due to unfulfilled dreams of Bodos from the last 50 years the demand for Bodoland state in Assam. The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) along with the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Progressive) and the People's Joint Action Committee for BodolandMovement (PJACBM) blocked the entire North East Frontier Railway in the Assam.  The Blockade took place in Basugaon Train Station in the district of Chirang and Udalguri Train Station. Over 20,000 peoples were present the rail blockade in both the Stations. The blockade given time was 12hours from 5AM to 5PM, the leaders present there has called for 10 hours until 3PM.

ABSU calls 12-hour rail blockade on October 24


 KOKRAJHAR, Oct 13 - The All Bodo Student’s Union (ABSU) along with the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Progressive) and the People’s Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement (PJACBM) has jointly called a 12-hour railway blockade on October 24 next in demand of a separate Bodoland State and political rights to the Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland.

The railway blockade programme will be held at Basugaon Railway Station and Udalguri Railway Station, ABSU general secretary Lorence Islary informed. The ABSU leader also expressed his resentment towards the Central government for its unwillingness to solve the long-pending demand for a separate Bodoland State
